"... to support this Constitution"

We are bound by oath

I took my first oath as a teen, enlisting in the military.  It is my belief that I was like most who take an oath to support "this constitution".  I was sincere in my oath, but ignorant as to what that meant. However, I was, from that moment forward, obligated to that oath and all it meant.

It wasn't until 2011 that I truly began to understand what that obligation meant.  A series of events occurred in my life that highlighted to me how little I truly comprehended the magnitude of that oath.  Since that time, I have made a concerted effort to attend formal training and commit to self study of our founding documents and the responsibility that accompanied the raising of my right hand.

I am flattered when I hear someone refer to me as a Constitutional expert.  However, I do not consider myself an expert.  I am yet a student of our Constitutions.  It is, in my humble opinion, critical enough that our citizenry understand our Federal and State Constitutions, that I seize every opportunity to educate others on our liberties. Most months, I teach a short segment on some part of the Constitution of Texas and/or of the United States of America.

A full blown lecture, taken directly from our founding documents, could be had on the role of government.  The shortcut to the answer, however, can be found in the Declaration of Independence, where it says, "to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men"

Governments' purpose is to secure your rights. The Sheriff exists to protect your liberties, be it by arresting a common criminal who stole from you, or interposing between you and an overzealous government agent. The Sheriff has a duty.

I will stand on my oath.

I will stand on the Constitution.

And I will stand for you.

Sincerely,

Scott M. London

Candidate for Hood County Sheriff

If a man makes a vow to the Lord, or swears an oath to bind himself by some agreement, he shall not break his word; he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.

Our Oath

Our Oath, Pt 1

  • Why do we take an oath?
  • How do we hold our officials accountable?

Our Oath, Pt 2

  • How we hold our law enforcement accountable.
  • It's not only the right thing to do, it's good for business.

What does it mean to interpose?

In this video, I discuss:

  • the proper application of Nullification
  • what the Constitution considers Federal Overreach
  • and just one example of interposition

The preamble to our Bill of Rights

Back in 2021, I was talking about what it means to take an oath to "support this constitution"
